Changing phones and recovering work
One active phone, notifications on that phone, and recovery of unsent work on the original device.
Last updated · 23 September 2026
Your account has one active phone at a time. Signing in and activating another phone replaces the previous phone’s active session. Mobile notifications are sent to the active phone.
Before you move
- Connect your current phone to the internet and open the app.
- Let pending changes finish syncing. Check notes, incidents and availability that were saved while offline.
- Deal with anything under Settings > Unsaved changes. A rejected change needs attention even if the rest of the queue has cleared.
- On the new phone, sign in with the same account and complete any required security and permission steps.
If the previous phone tells you the account is now active elsewhere, stop using it for new work. Use the phone you intend to keep active.
Recover work that was not sent
Protected unsent work stays on the original phone. Sign back in there with the same account to recover it. This activates that phone again, so the other phone will need to sign in again when you switch back.
The work does not automatically transfer to a new phone. If you no longer have the original phone, tell the office what was outstanding so they can help reconcile the shift records.
Keep the original phone until the work is sent
Do not uninstall the app or erase the phone while it holds unsent work you still need. A local draft is not an office record until it has been received. See Working offline.
Normal sign-out keeps protected unsent work recoverable by the same account on that device. Travel diagnostic history is separate and is cleared at sign-out, so export it first if you need it for troubleshooting.
