Scheduling

Create a shift

Every field on the create-shift form and what it controls.

Last updated · 25 June 2026

Select Add shift on the schedule to open the create form. The reference (SH-…) is assigned for you when you save.

The create-shift drawer with type, participant, time, support, location and recurrence fields.

Type and participants

  • Type (required): Direct, Intensive or Group support (see Shift types).
  • Participant (required): one for direct or intensive support, or several for group support. Group participants must all share the same pricing region.

Time

  • Starts at and Ends at (required), in 15-minute steps. The start must be in the future, and the end after the start.
  • Includes paid meal break (optional): tick if the shift has a paid break, which affects the billable time.

Support (the NDIS code)

  • Service agreement support (required): the support you are delivering, drawn from the participant’s active service agreement and plan budgets. Each option shows the support name, NDIS item number and agreed rate. If nothing is available, the form tells you what is blocking it (usually a missing or unsigned service agreement, or a Stated budget with no support codes).
  • Coding: choose planned to set the support code now, or post-service to confirm it from the worker’s progress note after the shift.

Location

  • Address type (required): the participant’s address (filled in for you) or another address. Group shifts always use another address, since the group meets in one place.

Recurrence

Tick Repeat to create a series, then choose a frequency (Daily, Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly) and an end date. See Recurring shifts.

What the worker sees

  • Worker details (optional): notes shown to the assigned worker in the mobile app.
  • Provider details (optional): internal notes, visible only to your team.
  • Care plan sharing: tick which parts of the participant’s plan (goals, health, preferences) to share with the worker for this shift.

Select Create shift. A new shift starts as Booked, with no worker yet. Next, assign a worker.
