Worker payroll

The SCHADS classification that drives the worker's pay rates, penalties and overtime.

Last updated · 25 June 2026

The Payroll tab sets a support worker’s pay classification under the SCHADS award. These choices drive the rates, penalties and overtime the platform applies to their shifts, so they need to be exact.

The worker Payroll tab with SCHADS stream, employment type, level, pay point, work state and employment category fields, and a rate preview.

The classification

  • SCHADS stream, the award stream, for example Social and Community Services or Home Care: Disability.
  • Employment type, Full-time / Part-time, or Casual.
  • Classification level (Level 1 to 8) and Pay point (1 to 4), which set the base rate.
  • Work state, the state the worker works in. This decides the timezone the penalty boundaries (evening, night, public holidays) are read in.
  • Worker category, Day worker or Shift worker, which decides how overtime and shift loadings apply.
  • Employment basis, Full-time, Part-time or Casual. For part-time, you also enter the agreed weekly hours.

Watch out

These fields feed the pay engine directly. A missing or wrong stream, level, pay point or work state means the wrong rate or the wrong penalties, so set them all before saving.

Travel pay

Tick Provider travel time when you pay this worker for travel to and from the participant. The pay grid only counts provider travel time when it is ticked. This is the same setting as on the Details tab, so changing it in either place updates both.

Rate preview and saving

When the stream, employment type, level and pay point are all set, a rate preview shows the matching SCHADS rates, including penalty bands and overtime, so you can sanity-check before saving. Select Save to store the classification.
